Ric Oquita

I’m a presentation trainer and communication coach specializing in working with scientists, researchers, and academics. Before moving into training, I worked professionally as an actor, director, and playwright. For nearly twenty years, I’ve brought that theatre background into my work with researchers throughout Germany and internationally.

My approach is practical. I help researchers find a clear structure for complex material, connect with different audiences, and develop greater confidence in how they use their voice and body. I also work extensively with researchers preparing for funding interviews, job talks, conference presentations, and challenging Q&A situations.

I know that presenting doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Much of my work is about creating a space where people can experiment, take risks, receive useful feedback, and discover what works for them rather than learning a prescribed way to “perform.”

This website also reflects other parts of my life and work: my background in theatre, community projects, and my ongoing family history research in Mexico and Colombia.
